The following Installation Terms and Conditions apply to all sales of Goods and/or the performance of Services by Guard Pro Home (“Company,” “we,” or “us”). All purchases by the Customer are expressly limited and conditional upon acceptance of these Installation Terms and Conditions.

These Installation Terms and Conditions are subject to change by Guard Pro Home at any time, without prior written notice, in the Company’s sole discretion. Any changes will be effective as of the “Last Updated Date” referenced above.

Customers must review these Installation Terms and Conditions in their entirety, together with the General Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy, to fully understand the terms governing the Goods and Services provided by Guard Pro Home.

1. Application

1.1

These Installation Terms and Conditions accompany and form part of Guard Pro Home’s General Terms and Conditions. By accepting the General Terms and Conditions, the Customer also agrees to comply with these Installation Terms and Conditions.

2. Interpretation

2.1 Definitions

In these Installation Terms and Conditions:

(a) “Contract” means the agreement between the Customer and Guard Pro Home arising from the Customer’s acceptance of the Company’s Offer, whether electronically or otherwise, for the supply of Goods and/or Services, and governed by the General Terms and Conditions.

(b) “Customer” means the purchaser of the Goods and/or Services from Guard Pro Home.

(c) “General Terms and Conditions” means Guard Pro Home’s General Terms and Conditions for the sale of Goods and Services.

(d) “Goods” means the goods, materials, equipment, parts, and products supplied or installed by Guard Pro Home, including but not limited to security window film, door and frame reinforcement hardware, strike plates, locks, anchoring systems, ballistic or reinforced panels, panic room components, and other residential or commercial fortification products specified in the Contract.

(e) “Maintenance Guidelines” means the standard care and maintenance instructions applicable to the installed Goods.

(f) “Offer” means the written or electronic proposal issued by Guard Pro Home detailing the Goods and Services to be provided, including scope of work, quantities, specifications, proposed installation dates, and the address of the Premises.

(g) “Premises” means the location designated by the Customer where the Goods and Services are to be supplied or installed.

(h) “Privacy Policy” means Guard Pro Home’s Privacy Policy.

(i) “Services” means the installation, reinforcement, fortification, assessment, and related services provided by Guard Pro Home pursuant to the Contract.

2.2

Headings are for reference only and do not affect interpretation.

3. Preparation of the Premises Prior to Services

3.1

The Customer must advise Guard Pro Home of the existence and location of any concealed water, gas, electrical, communication, alarm, or other services prior to commencement of the Services.

3.2

Guard Pro Home requires safe, clear, and uninterrupted access to all working and installation areas. Prior to installation, the Customer must:

(a) Remove furnishings, window coverings, door hardware accessories, or fixtures that may interfere with Services;
(b) Be responsible for lifting or removing floor coverings if required;
(c) Clear furniture and objects at least three (3) feet from doors, windows, or installation areas;
(d) Ensure children, pets, and other occupants do not interfere with the Services;
(e) Ensure doors and windows are clean and free of grease, dirt, adhesive residue, or debris;
(f) Remove existing window films, stickers, or attachments;
(g) Disable or disconnect any alarm or sensor systems attached to doors or windows for the duration of the Services.

3.3

If Guard Pro Home removes any furnishings or alarm components, it is not responsible for damage or reinstallation.

3.4

Where necessary, debris removal or surface preparation may be performed and included in the Offer.

3.5

If the Premises are not suitably prepared, Guard Pro Home may reschedule Services, subject to cancellation terms in the General Terms and Conditions.

3.6

Guard Pro Home reserves the right to suspend work if unsafe or hazardous conditions are identified and may charge for delays or interruptions.

3.7

For window film installations, Guard Pro Home adheres to the International Window Film Association (IWFA) Visual Quality Standards.

4. Use and Maintenance of Goods

4.1

All warranties are subject to compliance with these Installation Terms and Conditions and the Maintenance Guidelines.

4.2

Maintenance Guidelines will be provided upon completion of Services.

4.3

For window film installations, the Customer shall not:

(a) Clean treated windows for at least thirty (30) days;
(b) Use abrasive, ammonia-based, or industrial-strength cleaners;
(c) Use razor blades or abrasive tools;
(d) Expose film to extreme temperatures immediately after installation.

4.4

The Customer must ensure sharp or heavy objects do not contact installed Goods.

4.5

Permitted cleaning methods include soft cloths, rubber squeegees, and standard non-abrasive glass cleaners.

4.6

Guard Pro Home will leave installation areas reasonably free of debris.

4.7

Cosmetic repairs, drywall finishing, painting, trim work, or caulking are not included unless expressly stated in the Contract and remain the Customer’s responsibility.

5. Drying and Curing Period (Window Film)

5.1

Window film installations use a water-based application process. Minor moisture residue may remain after installation.

5.2

Drying and curing may take 60 to 150 days, depending on conditions.

5.3

Temperature, film thickness, and sunlight exposure affect drying time.

5.4

Window coverings should remain open where possible to facilitate curing.

6. Compliance with Law and Permits

6.1

The Customer is responsible for compliance with all applicable federal, provincial, and municipal laws, codes, and regulations.

6.2

The Customer is responsible for obtaining any required permits, approvals, or consents, including those related to:

  • Building codes

  • Property modifications

  • Enhanced security or fortification measures

7. Panic Room and Safe Room Specific Disclaimers

7.1 No Guarantee of Absolute Protection

Customer acknowledges that panic rooms, safe rooms, reinforced spaces, and fortification measures installed by Guard Pro Home are intended to increase resistance and delay forced entry, but do not guarantee complete protectionagainst all threats, including but not limited to forced entry, fire, extreme force, prolonged attacks, or specialized tools.

Guard Pro Home does not represent or warrant that any panic room or fortified area is impenetrable, burglar-proof, or bulletproof unless expressly stated in writing in the Contract.

7.2 Not a Substitute for Emergency Services

Customer acknowledges that panic rooms and safe rooms are not a substitute for emergency response services. The Customer remains responsible for contacting police, fire, medical, or other emergency services as appropriate.

Guard Pro Home is not responsible for response times, availability, or actions of emergency services.

7.3 Occupancy and Usage Limitations

Panic rooms and fortified spaces are designed for temporary refuge only. They are not intended for long term occupancy, habitation, or shelter beyond their designed purpose.

Customer agrees to use the panic room strictly in accordance with any instructions, specifications, or limitations provided by Guard Pro Home.

7.4 Structural and Building Limitations

Customer acknowledges that the effectiveness of panic room installations may be limited by:

  • Existing building structure

  • Wall construction type

  • Floor and ceiling assemblies

  • Adjacent rooms or access points

  • Local building codes and property constraints

Guard Pro Home is not responsible for limitations arising from existing construction conditions that restrict the level of fortification achievable.

7.5 Fire, Ventilation, and Life-Safety Systems

Unless expressly included in the Contract:

  • Panic rooms may not include fire rated assemblies

  • Panic rooms may not include independent ventilation or oxygen systems

  • Panic rooms may not include emergency lighting or communication systems

Customer acknowledges that Guard Pro Home does not design or certify panic rooms as fire shelters unless explicitly stated in writing.

7.6 Ballistic and Impact Resistance

Any ballistic, impact, or forced entry resistance ratings are limited to the specific materials installed and do not extend to surrounding structures such as ceilings, floors, adjacent walls, electrical penetrations, or ventilation openings unless expressly included in the Contract.

No representation is made that installed systems will withstand all calibers, impact levels, or attack durations unless specified in writing.

7.7 Customer Responsibility and Maintenance

Customer is responsible for:

  • Maintaining all locks, hinges, latches, and reinforcement components

  • Ensuring doors remain unobstructed and operable

  • Avoiding unauthorized modifications

Any alterations or additions made by the Customer or third parties may void warranties and reduce effectiveness.

7.8 No Security Outcome Guarantee

Guard Pro Home does not guarantee prevention of crime, injury, loss, or harm. Installation of panic rooms and fortification measures reduces risk but does not eliminate it.

FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH THESE INSTALLATION TERMS AND CONDITIONS MAY AFFECT OR VOID WARRANTIES PROVIDED UNDER THE GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS.
